JUNIOR TECHNICAL CONSULTANT

Location: San Diego 


GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION


A Junior Technical Consultant works across teams to stand up new systems, and extend/customise existing systems through technical projects. It is a fully hands-on role focusing on direct delivery of client billable work, in conjunction with the project management team and solution architects. With this, the Junior Technical Consultant will also learn fundamental consulting skills to increase our customers product confidence and sustainability in the future.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


You will be tasked with working on standard projects and solutions, that maximize the use of our technology, and minimize creation of special cases and once-only customizations. You will work with the delivery teams to ensure that the right work is being delivered, and will also work with the business to guide and educate on the correct way to position our solutions. You will bring a strong technical background and will be tasked with enabling customer success through grounded, logical, solutions for customer requests. This will help to drive the design of future solutions, which you will be responsible for as well. Documentation will be a key requirement for solutions delivered, and a strong emphasis on clear/concise technical writing will be needed. You will work with a global team delivering to a high standard and focusing on technical work to on-board our customers quickly and effectively.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Implement scalable, secure and high performing SaaS applications.
  • Work closely with Solution Architects and Technical Consultants to develop applications aligned with the Mapp business strategy.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional agile teams that include Product Owners, QA Engineers and fellow DevOps Software Engineers to implement the next generation of Mapp applications.
  • Stay abreast of technology trends and industry best practices to hone and maintain your talent.
  • Design and Coding of web pages, forms, ETL scripts web production and other software deliverables.
  • Assist in the technical on boarding of new customers
  • Display/develop an understanding of email marketing technology and advertising.
  • Step in to provide Technical Support to customers as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


    • Proficiency in managing projects including scope, scheduling, and change management in a project management or customer service role
    • Data analysis
    • Detailed understanding of email marketing and digital advertising and associated KPIs
    • Ability to interpret, drive, and support customer vision and thinking
    • Exceptional time management skills & flexibility in working hours
    • Solid Technical writing competency; ability to create technical specifications/blueprints and solutions-orientated project proposals
    • Ability to implement solid research methods when issues are ambiguous and difficult
    • Ability to identify and help mitigate risks and issues
    • Strong interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills
    • Training and mentoring skills
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript/jQuery/PHP is preferred;
  • Some experience with Database Management Software (SQL Developer, SQLite etc)
  • Awareness of XML, APIs, Web Services, Web Forms, RSS, FTP is preferred
  • Ability to work within a cross functional agile team;
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work well with others in a fast-paced agile environment with an emphasis on collaborating and assisting the team to meet business objectives;
  • Able to use tools such as JIRA, Git, etc. preferred;
  • BS in Computer Science or a related field; 1-2 years experience in related field preferred
