Job Description

Who We Are
We know that paying bills isn’t fun, and at Papaya we work tirelessly every day to help make the experience better. Papaya is a VC-backed and well capitalized startup revolutionizing the way people pay their bills. With the Papaya app users can snap a photo of any bill and it’s paid — no more making calls, mailing checks, or filling out tedious web forms. We’d love for you to try it yourself — search the App/Play Store for Papaya Payments or visit ppaya.com.

We are backed by some of the most successful investors in the world, including Sequoia Capital, First Round Capital, and Silicon Valley Bank. We have made payments to tens of thousands of businesses in all 50 states. Mobile share of the $4T US consumer bill payment space is only 2.7% and growing fast – we are excited to be part of that growth! This is a ground floor opportunity with a startup that will disrupt this massive market.

Who You Are
Papaya believes that diversity helps build an inclusive culture where all team members can grow, contribute, and feel valued. If you agree, we’d love to hear from you! We are looking for a savvy full stack engineer to join our growing company. The idea candidate will be proficient in PHP and interested in building scalable backend and front end products for external and internal websites. You will be excited by the prospect of owning major projects to support our products and tools while expanding your skillset and following best practices. You’ll report to the CTO and work directly with the founders, senior engineers, and sales directors. Teamwork, flexibility, communication, and a willingness to learn are of the highest importance.

What You Will Bring
• 3+ years relevant work experience
• Extensive experience with PHP
• Some proficiency in SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB)
• Git for version control
• AWS Cloud Services knowledge a plus
