Multiple Openings. Software Engineer III (Operational Engineering/New Business Initiatives) for Wayfair LLC in Boston, MA to perform design, implementation, testing and maintenance of software systems to support the Strategic Finance Engineering team. Develop various applications using object oriented methodologies to support new business initiatives and platform integrations. Develop applications using service oriented architecture (SOA) and object oriented PHP, Python, Kafka, Redis, Aerospike, MS SQL Server, and MVC framework, with Backbone and React frameworks for client side JavaScript. Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new business requirements, and improve performance. Mentor junior engineers and perform code reviews of peer engineers on the Strategic Finance Engineering team. Participate in sprint planning using Agile methodologies. Ensure that developed applications meet short-term and long-term business needs. Requires Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus two years' experience performing full stack software design and development using PHP, JavaScript, and SQL or, alternatively, a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field and five years' experience performing full stack software design and development using PHP, JavaScript, and SQL. One year of experience must include: Performing full-stack web development using PHP, JavaScript, SQL, React, JQuery, Mustache, and Handlebars to create scalable applications; Performing scripting using Python and Shell scripting; Performing version control using GIT; Performing web application UI design and development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript (React, JQuery, Mustache, and Handlebars) to create cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility; Designing and developing back-end applications using PHP, Python, and SQL; Employing engineering and optimization best practices regarding frontend web standards, code maintainability, page rendering, and browser performance; Defining test plans and performing unit testing; Performing SQL database development including designing, queries, and stored procedures, performance tuning, and performing data ETL; Utilizing Jenkins and Puppet to deploy application code into server environments; and Interfacing with business product leaders and engineers to gather requirements and translate requirements into system design. Eligible for employee referral program.
