ResponsibilitiesDr. Yi Xing's lab at the Center for Computational and Genomic Medicine (CCGM) at Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia is hiring a full stack software engineer to develop and maintain web servers, databases, and front-end applications related to sequencing technology development, cancer biology, RNA biology, and immuno-oncology, with a strong focus on pre-clinical, clinical and translational applications. Duties include (1) developing new databases for managing and sharing next-generation sequencing (NGS) datasets and supporting analysis of NGS data (DNA-seq, RNA-seq, CLIP-seq, single cell data), proteome MS data, and clinical metadata, (2) developing web-based user interfaces for visualization of NGS data and biomedical big data, (3) developing and improving the efficiency of existing software developed in the Xing lab. QualificationsA minimum of an MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or a Bachelors degree in Computer Science with at least 2 years of an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required. Skills and expertise with Python, C++, relational (SQL) or non-relational (NoSQL) databases, and/or familiarity with PHP and Javascript are required. Experience with workflow management systems such as Snakemake would be preferred. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work independently, while simultaneously working under senior lab members and lab personnel. A background in bioinformatics or familiarity with bioinformatic tools would be a plus.
