WHRO Public Media is seeking a mid-level Web Developer with a proven track record for creating efficient, scalable, and manageable enterprise-level systems using open source technologies. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience developing custom solutions, maintaining existing code and optimizing MySQL queries, passion for best design and coding practices and a desire to develop new bold ideas. Job Duties: Engage in multiple, ongoing system implementations using Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, as well as CSS/JS/HTML Work closely with senior staff to deliver customized solutions Assist the team with scenario testing and bug fixing Manage Git repositories and methodologies Create, test, and maintain shell scripts for process automation Document, maintain and contribute to project stories in project management system

Skills and Requirements:

  • 3 years or more of recent PHP coding experience
  • Able to understand and debug communication with RESTful APIs, familiarity with web services, and 3rd party platforms and libraries
  • Working knowledge of PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, JQuery
  • Proficiency in PHP, HTML/CSS is required
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent technical, analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently but also able to communicate cross-functionally to seek out information when required.

Preferred Skills: Experience in Ubuntu administration, MySQL tuning Experience with open source content and learning management systems such as Joomla, Drupal, WordPress, Moodle, etc. Bachelor degree in computer science, or an analytical discipline, or equivalent

Experience: 3+ years of software development experience in a recent PHP/LAMP environment. 3+ years of related professional experience.
