GovernmentCIO is looking for a detail-oriented individual, who is proficient with technologies and hardware and flourishes in high-pressure environments, to join our team as a Software/Infrastructure Engineer, providing enterprise-level support for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In this role, you will be required to interpret, use, and apply information contained within the IT system architecture to inform a range of business improvement and transformation activities, particularly those involved in the design, development, enhancement and maintenance of IT support systems.Come transform government IT with us and apply today!ResponsibilitiesProvide IT Strategy development, maintenance and monitoring support including strategic road mapping across the VBA IT PortfolioAssist in the establishment of a provisioning structure for platform supportDevelop a policy to ensure adherence to the use of VA-approved platformsCreate an architectural vision from program requirements, utilizing high volume/high availability networks and systemsLead cross functional project teamsDrive high-quality work products within expected timeframesMonitor progress, manage risk and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomesIntegrate solutions with other applications and platforms based on engineering requirementsDesign core, backend software componentsCode using primarily C/C++, Java, PHP and HackInterface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versaConduct design and code reviewsAnalyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resourcesStay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client's businessProvide constructive on-the-job feedback/coaching to team membersFoster an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environmentUnderstand assigned clients and their service lines and actively assess/present ways to improveAlign standards and frameworks with overall business and technology strategyQualifications15+ years of relevant Operations or systems administration experience, specifically at the middleware and OS layersBachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or related scientific /technical discipline. Alternatively, 10 years of additional experience may be substituted for education2+ years relevant experience building large-scale server applicationsExperience with a wide range of IT infrastructure platforms, including cloud-based platformsHands-on experience with OS virtualization (e.g. containerization)Experience with Terraform suite, Puppet/Chef, K8s/ Docker, etc.Experience working with REST services and applications that provide/consume dataCoding Experience in JSON, NODE.JS, Java/J2EEStrong understanding of cloud migration techniques and workflowsWell-versed in Object Oriented tools and techniquesExtensive experience in the design and development of client Corporate applications, including network topologyDemonstrated deep technical capabilities and professional knowledgeA technical mindset and analytical approachThe tenacity to gather information from various teams within the organization with little supervisionStrong communication skills, both written and verbal, in communicating effectively with a technically diverse user baseMust be a US citizen or authorized to work in the USAdditional Desired SkillsExperience working with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)Firm understanding of DevOps concepts (CI/CD, PI events, etc.)Coding experience in C, C++, and/or C# is a plusCoding experience in Perl, PHP, Hack or Python is a plusWorking knowledge or prior experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and/or Cloud (AWS, Azure)Experience with ITIL, SAFe, and/or other similar IT best practice frameworksOutstanding time management and organizational skills, with a strong ability to prioritize and resolve issues effectively and independentlyInternally motivated to succeed: Self Starter
