Position Objective:
To participate in the development, design, and implementation of websites for the PETA Foundation and its supported organizations, paying particular attention to detail and scalability 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• In consultation with the PETA Foundation and its supported organizations and verified compliance with the objectives, standards, and requirements communicated by them:
    o Initiate and lead improvements in processes and standards of construction and maintenance of the supported organizations' software applications
    o Develop technical functionality and implementation of the supported organizations' Internet sites 
    o Assist in defining the functionality required to support elaborate Web interfaces and software applications efficiently
    o Recommend and initiate improvements to the supported organizations' sites, operating procedures, and use of technology 
    o Serve as a primary point of contact for WordPress technical queries
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of development-related standard operating procedures 
• Document work and develop necessary support documents or assist the team with development documentation
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of five years of related experience in website development roles
• Demonstrated experience developing WordPress plugins and themes (authorship of publicly available plugins/themes on the WordPress Plugin Directory/Themes Directory a plus)
• Demonstrated experience providing creative solutions in an agile environment
• Regular contributions to the WordPress Community (Support Forum, Documentation, etc.)
• Extensive experience with the following technologies:
        o Apache
        o MySQL
        o PHP
        o Nginx
        o WordPress
        o WordPress coding standards and best practices
        o WordPress Community
        o WordPress multisite
        o WordPress plugin development
        o WordPress theme development
• Demonstrated experience using GitHub in a distributed development environment
• Proven success as a Web developer
• Familiarity with the following technologies/programs/platforms:
        o BuddyPress
        o CDN (Content Delivery Networks)
        o Responsive frameworks (Foundation, Bootstrap, etc.)
        o Laravel framework
        o WooCommerce
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
